Exciting 2012 Family Life Events
Family Life Night Family Life Night is held every 1st and 3rd Saturday following Saturday Night Contemporary Worship until about 9:00pm in the Our Shepherd's Lower Level.
It is a great opportunity for families and individuals of all ages to learn about Christ in a group setting. Family Life Night features a light meal, cool crafts, recreational activities and/or moonwalks (adult supervised), devotions for children, and a Bible study led by Mark Nimtz for the adults. Family Life Night also offers a great opportunity for high school students to earn JOY Hours or Service Points. Nursery care is also available.

"Why?
Because the father-daughter relationship sets the stage for all future romantic involvements” (Dobson, 1997). It is because of the powerful impact fathers have on their daughters that Family Life Ministries presents the Annual Father-Daughter Dance, as it offers fathers , grandfathers, and special friends of daughters and young women of all ages including and especially your high school daughter the opportunity to “set the bar high,” and model exactly what attitudes, behaviors, and actions girls should expect from young suitors.

Handle With Care
is a DVD study series presented by Focus on the Family.
|
They're the toughest relationship busters – anger, depression, sexual issues, and financial battles. So how does the Inventor of Marriage want you to handle them? With care of course. In Essentials of Marriage: Handle With Care, you'll discover Bible-based strategies for dealing with the biggest threats couples face. It states with a lively DVD presentation from some of today's top experts – Dr. John Trent, Dave Ramsey, Dr. Greg Smalley, Dr. Gary and Barb Rosberg, Dr. Juli Slattery, Kay Arthur, Dr. Archibald Hart, Gary Thomas, and Mitch Temple. The adventure continues with group discussion concerning just what you need to apply that practical wisdom to your marriage.
Time and Place: Essentials of Marriage: Handle With Care will meet in the Our Shepherd Lutheran Church Library for six weeks during the 9:30am Bible Study Hour. Dr. Mark Nimtz, Director of Family Life Ministry will anchor the facilitation of the DVD series and discussion beginning January 22, 2012. Family Life Statement of Purpose
Our Shepherd Lutheran is a community of believers committed to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. Our motto is to, “Openly Share the Loving Christ.” Thus, OSLC has developed a Family Life Ministry consisting of Family Life, Senior Adults, Men, Women, Young Adults, Youth, and Children’s Ministries. The goal and objective of these ministries is to implement the scriptures found below.
| Matthew 22:37-39 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.’ And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments” |
Matthew 28:19-20 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” |
| Acts 2:42 “They devoted themselves to the apostle’s teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” |
Joshua 24:15 “. . . Then choose for yourself this day whom you will serve, . . . As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. |
