Winning is about so much more than the final score

In Upward Basketball players are divided according to ability and height to create equal teams. At evaluations prior to the season, your child will participate in several basketball drills to ensure fair play. There is no "trying out"; all children who register are placed on a team. Every child plays an equal amount of time during the season.

Children in Grades K – 6 may participate in Upward Basketball. The season goes from January – March each year. Games take place on Saturdays, and there is only one weekly one hour practice to accommodate busy family schedules. 

Practice times and dates are based on the team on which your child is placed as well as coach availability. When you register, every child can indicate one night he/she cannot practice. During the practice, coaches will share a Bible teaching with the children.

The league conducts a pre-season coaches’ clinic for all coaches that stress basketball fundamentals and faith-building. Each coach is supplied with a handbook that contains detailed week by week coaching instructions which aid them in the mentoring of basketball skills and delivery of the devotional time.
